HOMEWORK EXPECTATIONS AND PROCEDURES
In 1st grade, we send home a packet of homework each Monday night, and students have until Friday to complete it and turn it in. It is a combination of Spelling practice and Every Day Math skills practice. It is intended to be done with a parent or other caregiver and provides extension and an opportunity to practice those skills that are taught during the school day.
In addition, 1st graders are expected to read for approximately 10 minutes each night, and have the option of reading the book sent home in their book baggie, or, spending time on the RAZ Kids website, where each child is assigned a leveled library of reading selections that are followed by comprehension questions.
Lastly, we have access this year to a program called Dreambox which provides children with additional practice in mathematical areas that are matched with the updated Colorado State standards. The links to these programs are on the Twain home page and you will need login information from your child's teacher in order to access these wonderful "at-home" resources.
